Spring Cleaning of …well…Everything

22 Jun

Its that time of year again. Well, not really. Im a bit late. But for me its here. Ive avoided it and betrayed it, tried to get away from it, but it caught me.

No, I am not talking about cleaning my house or getting rid of all the junk thats being stored in my basement right now. Im talking bigger. Life changes. I felt a spring cleaning coming on, but it scared me. Taking risks is never easy. But I was getting too comfortable with life – and that was making me uncomfortable. I was too comfortable with school, with my beliefs, my lifestyle…the list goes on. So, I had to be honest with myself and changed a lot of things. And now Im beginning to figure things out. This process has not been easy, but Im starting to learn a lot about myself, and that makes me feel better.

During these last few months where my life has gone on some type of spinning ride, I have neglected my blog because I have simply had too much to write about, too little time, and absolutely no idea what was going on. However, as I set out on this risky journey to learn about myself, I am finding inspiration and understanding more fully what I believe in. With these things setting in, I decided that it is time for me to start blogging again. So here it is, my second attempt in the world of blogging.

And now presenting: a few things I’ve learned lately (aka things Ive been thinking and that have been popping up in my conversations).

1. People are fundamentally good. I am starting to realize that people are amazing. I have tended not to let anyone in, but now Im finding that we need to trust in people, and trust that people are good. And make time for people. It makes life much more fun. On that note, a previous post of mine has come to encourage me once again. Its called Living a Passionate Life.

2. Real beauty is the stuff no one else sees. This summer I have been working in a small town that generally has a bad rep. However, I think it is an absolutely stunning town full of trees and life. When I tell people I love the view from my office, they laugh. But who can look at the picture below and not believe its beautiful (taken just outside my office window). When you see beauty that others don’t recognize (and Im not just talking about nature), it’s unique and special – way better than anything else.

3. Dream. It really is okay not to lead a typical life. Do something bigger than you originally planned. Step out, take risks, impress yourself, and enjoy the view.

I’m so glad you have decided to start blogging again, because honestly sarah you have an amazing talent at puttting your thoughts and ideas into ways that affect people and encourage people to think in ways they may not do on their own. I know for myself personally going through your blogs has made me think in ways I may not have done on my own. I’m so glad once again you talked about the passionate life blog you did awhile ago. It is definetly the blog that has made me think the most.

The part you posted about the dreams and not living the typical life is so true, we can’t just put ourselves in some box that everyone else is putting themselves in because we can do incredible world shaking things if we work at it and believe in ourselves and the people around us. We need to be surrounded by people who are backing us up and supporting us because on our own we will often fail and like we always learn when we are little there is strength in numbers.

Well have a super awesome day and I’ll talk to you soon.

    Matt
